Osteoporosis
| What is it? |
Osteoporosis is commonly thought this illness is linked to women, but on avergae 1 in 5 men suffer with the illness too.
Although Calcium deficency is the biggest factor that causes Osteoporosis, but it can also be hereditary and, for men, it may also cause low testosterone levels.
Initially it can be hard to identify if you are a sufferer; fractures at a young age and height loss are some of the symptoms.
Beneficial Foods & Drinks:
- Eat foods high in Calcium
- Soya Milk

- Alcohol
- Salt
- Caffeine
- Animal Protein

How to help yourself:
1. Quit smoking
2. If you know you have a family history of Osteoporosis it may be worth taking action now and supplementing your diet with the calcium or changing your eating habits to include more on a daily basis.
3. Exercise also will help we wouldn't advise running although some people may differ but it has a harsh impact in the knees. Walking is great, weight lifting as well.

If you have concerns talk to your doctor: treatment through medication can be prescribed by the doctor, they will probably advise to increase your intake of calcium; which can take be taken as a supplement and importantly make sure it comes with Vitamin D and magnesium to help absorption rates, make sure you talk to your doctor about supplementation.
