Psoriasis
What is it?
Psoriasis is often triggered by emotional trauma. It can start from a small scally patch and within weeks can spread dramatically to various areas around the body. It mainly occurs within people aged between 11 and 45. It can appear any where on the body and typical areas are elbow, knees and arms.
Unfortunately it's a recurrent condition and amazingly affects 2% of the British population.
The first point of call is to see your doctor or see a dermatologist. the main prescription will be various creams but be careful as they can rid the itch and flakiness but leave you with scarring.
Another form of treatment is UVB treatment which can help, but some find it can return a few months later.
Psoriasis can also be hereditary and about 10% of people with Psoriasis may develop Psoriatic arthritis in fingers and toes.
