Osteoporosis
| What is it? |
Osteoporosis is normally linked to women, but about 1 in 5 men suffer with the illness too.
Calcium deficency is the biggest factor that causes Osteoporosis, but it can also be hereditary and, for men, it may also cause low testosterone levels.
You may not notice that you are a sufferer but fractures at a young age and height loss are some of the symptoms.
Good Foods/Drinks:
- Eat foods high in Calcium
Bad Foods/Drinks:
- Alcohol
- Salt
- Caffeine
- Animal Protein

How to help yourself:
1. Quit smoking
2. If you know you have a family history of Osteoporosis it may be worth taking action now and supplementing your diet with the calcium or changing your eating habits to include more on a daily basis.
3. Exercise also will help we wouldn't advise running although some people may differ but it has a harsh impact in the knees. Walking is great, weight lifting as well.

Talk to your doctor as treatment would be medication prescribed by the doctor, they will probably advise to increase your intake of calcium; you can take it as a supplement and importantly make sure it comes with Vitamin D and magnesium to help absorption rates, make sure you talk to your doctor about supplementation.
