Selenium is a mineral; it protects cells from free radicals which in turn helps to protect the immune system. This plays a role in the protein syntehsis, maintaining muscle and immune function.

Selenium is present in soil (depending on the quaity of soil) so should be available in fruit and vegetables.

As we age it is very important to take this as a supplement or fit more foods containing this nutrient into your diet because without it you maybe contributing to muscle loss, decreasing your strength as well as your balance and mobility.

How much should I take and when? |
The daily amount is between 100-200mcg a day.
