Echinacea
| What is it? |
Echinacea is a wildflower native to North America. It is a very popular supplement, it is used for treating and preventing colds and is used supposed to support the immune system, although there is ongoing research into the herb and some writes up may say there is no definit evidence. Yet other write ups say Echinacea cuts the chances of getting a cold and shortens the length if you do get a cold.
This is a beneficial supplement and perhaps a vital one to take if you train. As the immune system weakens after training and if you are not taking the correct supplememtns to help recover this could be something to consider and even more so during the winter season when more illnesses occur.

Some people take this supplement just for the winter season, other take this everyday, some have rest periods; the Shape No Bull team take this whenever we feel a cold coming on or just generally feeling under the weather. We have found at times it works and has held off the cold, other times there is no stopping the illness, but whatever the case if something helps a bug brewing it is definitely worth a try.

Research varies how often and for what period of time you should take Echinacea. Some people take it Monday to Friday with weekends off, others take it for a period of 4-8 weeks with a week off before taking it again.
Always check the potency and the actual exact ingredients used as brands can vary.
